| Like The Dispossessed, this science fiction novel contrasts two worlds, in this case a utopian future and the very ugly present. This is not as good a novel as The Dispossessed. Its characters are not as real, and its utopia is too smugly easy and ideal. And it doesn't have the spiritual punch of Kin of Ata. Nevertheless, it presents another interesting look at the kind of society progressive politics might produce. |
