Child Poverty

 

19 percent of all the children in this country live in poverty, in families with incomes below the federal poverty line ($14,630 for a family of three in 2001). And if you feel, like me, that $14,630 is an absurdly small amount of money for a family of three to live on, then you will realize that the situation is actually much worse than even the above 19% figure suggests.
