"My Fellow Americans..."

Like everyone, probably, I dream of a better world. In my vision of that better world, my political leaders are people to be proud of, people that inspire me. They are the force that energizes the work of healing this broken world, and of leading all of humanity into the fulfillment of our vast promise. Below are my responses to actual major presidential speeches. In each case, I borrow heavily from the original speech in order to present my own take on it, and whenever I can, I also provide a link to the real speech so you can compare my versions with the originals. I will try to reuse all the most important lines from the original speeches whenever possible, changing as little as I can to alter the meanings to a more progressive message. (I believe the copyright laws allow me to parody the original speeches in this way for purposes of non-profit political commentary.) Maybe ninety percent of the key phrases in my speeches will be text taken directly from the originals, but it will be the remaining ten percent that will make the big difference. Let us strive to be that ten percent that makes the difference in this world.
