The Struggle

Under Construction!

In this section of Progressive Schoolhouse, I'd like to present historical information that might be of interest to progressives. Unfortunately, history is not my strongest suit, so I will now repeat my plea for any help anyone might want to offer. Here is a list of some ideas I have for this section:

1. The labor movement. Capsule histories outlining the development of the labor movement as a whole in this country, or maybe in certain specific geographical or occupational areas. Biographies of famous labor leaders. Accounts of the developing tactics of strikers and strike breakers. (The first thing I actually write for this section will probably be a summary of labor strife during the colonial era.)

2. Civil/human rights. History of how women or African Americans got the vote.

3. History of the corporation. How and when did this legal idea get invented? What were its historical ancestors? How did it develop in this country over time?

4. Reviews of U.S. foreign policy.
